Black Rock Sands Surf Weekend

13/14/15 May 2005

Camping season has arrived. This coming weekend sees the first MCC camping trip of 2005. We're heading off to Black Rock Sands in North Wales. We booked in at Eisteddfa Park (www.eisteddfapark.co.uk), which is our normal haunt. It's on the road to Criccieth from Porthmadoc. Most people travel up on the Friday night (about 3 1/2 hours of sensible driving).

Everyone is welcome to come along for the weekend. We're planning to go surfing on the beach (if there's any surf), or at least a paddle in the sea. Unless the surf (or wind) is up, it's suitable for all standards. Plus the beach is great for messing around on (bring your kites!).

If you need equipment, speak with Bill or Derek to book what you need. You'll also need to arange for it to be transported there. If anyone has any spare roof rack space, it'll be greatly appreciated.

If you want more details, contact Nao, or post a message on the message board

Washburn Peak Challenge

Last weekend saw the Washburn Peak Challenge (arranged by Peak UK). This excellent event did have a small MCC contigent in the form of Team Bainbridge. Well done guys for entering.

The Peak Challenges are an excellent series of fun events run at different locations throughout the year. There's an HPP challenge later this year if anyone is interested

Photos from the Washburn can be found here, and pictures from last year's HPP Peak challenge are here

Marsden Mondays

Now that it's April, the weir at Marsden (or Marston, Marsdon or whatever) is now in action.

The weir can be paddled on Monday Evenings from April to June. All paddlers should display an identification number (such as their BCU number) clearly on their boat or person.

There were seven paddlers on the water tonight and I think everyone had an excellent time. I know I did!

Web Changes

I'm hoping to update the events and course pages (amongst others) in the next few days. To try and make it easier to find out if anything has been updated, I've started a weblog. This will be added to everytime the site changes.

Any comments to the usual place.
